Enthusiast

This film tells the story of a person following their curiosity and instincts. It is an inspiring journey and encapsulates many of the elements that I try to pepper into my own life. I see Magnus a person of great substance, a result of pursuing his interests and unwavering ideas. The film is shot in and around his Los Angeles warehouse and the producer blends some great photography, storytelling, music and editing.

The Reluctant Master: Sasuke

This brief video highlights a master Japanese blacksmith that creates bespoke tools. A beautifully executed video. The craftsman's desire to create the best tools he can is how he envisions others wanting to enter the craft. Recently and from my own experience I have noticed many professionals taking up hobbies/side projects where they can use their hands to create outside the office. The ability to then take that object and use today's online technology to market and sell your offerings is quite impressive and growing... Etsy etc. As retail evolves I see customers wanting to understand the products they are buying, how they are created, where and by who. Retailers that recognize this and offer new ways for customers to interact with their products are surely going to be a step ahead.

DERELICT

Jonathan Ward started off his career restoring Toyota Land cruisers. Many years later he and his team at ICON4x4 are creating brilliant vehicles. My favorites are a series called Derelicts; essentially they take vintage vehicles and add modern technology with a nod to vintage style. One day I will work with his team to build mine. Not many people have the exquisite eye Jonathan has honed. Check them out...

Not just another pizza spot

The Story of Lucali. The creator/owner discusses how the restaurant came to be. I have great appreciation for authenticity in a place and love when spots open up that capture the essence of the people who built them. My favorites are usually second hand kitchens that have been tweaked a bit and where the product and people are genuine. Those are the places that become neighborhood gems. Great video that captures this kind of authenticity and love.
